LORAC Pro Conceal/Contour Palette & Brush: First Impression & Review

I stumbled across this palette a couple of weeks ago at Khol's. When I was trying to find reviews on the palette, I could not find any whatsoever. Initially I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy the palette because there was no palette out on display. The hype for its sister product (LORAC Pro Contour Palette), was all over YouTube and many beauty blogs. It was a hit and stood up to the Kat Von D & Anastasia Beverly Hills contour palettes. I thought to myself, how bad could this palette REALLY be?!? 💭So I purchased it anyways, I swatched the whole palette when I got home and was shocked!

First Impression:

  • Loveee that it came with a dual sided brush!

  • Very sleek matte finish

  • Huge mirror on the inside

  • Highlights too?!? LORAC stop.

This palette comes with 12 shades complied of concealers, contours & highlights. All shades had a warm/neutral undertone which is very fitting for girls with olive undertones (like myself). The color range was great for all skin tones because both concealer and contours colors were made to be suitable for fair to darker skin tones. I personally love the variety of shades in this palette because living in NY I tend to always get lighter in the winter and obviously darker in the summer. This palette helps elimnate the need of buying multiple palettes to suit your skin tone when the season changes. One of the concealer shades is actually a peach corrector. I thought this set the palette apart because taking the time to correct to those problem areas can really make a difference. Another plus I saw in this palette was that it is travel friendly. The mirror in this palette is huge and this helps from having to bring another mirror with you when you are on the go.

I think the biggest con of this package is the smaller end of the brush. The package claims the smaller end to be used to blend out the concealers colors. However, when I tried to do so, it left the concealers looking very streaky. A easy fix to this problem is using it for product placement, such as contouring cheeks or the nose for example. As for the highlighters, the pigmentation of the shades could of been more vibrant. The color pay off is great if you want a somewhat natural highlight. Lastly, I found it necessary to set all of the cream colors. Though I do have combo skin, I always find the need to set with powder but I would think that even if you are dry, or normal skin complexion you should set anyways.

Overall Thoughts/Rating:

I love this product for the versatilely of color shades and its creamy consistency. Being able to mix colors together to see what works best for your skin color is also a plus in my book.
